Lilian Garcia’s WWE Run Isn’t Over Yet—Here’s What’s Next for the Announcer

Lilian Garcia may no longer be the full-time ring announcer for WWE SmackDown, but don’t call it a goodbye just yet. While WWE made the call to replace her on the blue brand, it turns out her time with the company isn’t completely over.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Lilian explained that her most recent stint with WWE was always intended to be temporary—at least on Monday Night Raw. “So when they brought me back, I knew that Raw was going to be until the changeover on January 6 for Netflix—that I knew. And they were like, ‘Okay, now we’re gonna put you on SmackDown, but we don’t know how long,’” she shared.

Garcia added that each week on SmackDown came with no guarantees, but she was happy to be asked to stick around. “Every week that went by, they were like, ‘I’m so sorry, we need you another week. Is that okay?’ And I’m like, ‘Of course it is. It’s fine. Do whatever you want. I am loving this, totally loving this.’”

Even though her weekly role has wrapped, WWE still values her contributions. Garcia revealed that the company offered her a spot on Saturday Night’s Main Event—a perfect fit for the nostalgia-driven show. “We want you to do Saturday Night’s Main Event. We think you’re a perfect fit for that. I love it. I get to wear gowns for that,” she said with a smile.

Dave Meltzer also confirmed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it was WWE’s call to move on from Garcia as SmackDown’s announcer, but they allowed her to work the show in Spain out of respect for her Spanish heritage. “It appears it’s not a complete cutting of the cord as they’ll still use her on SNME shows since those are more nostalgia based,” Meltzer noted.

Garcia’s passion hasn’t gone unnoticed, and WWE is already talking to her about future appearances. “Look, we’ve got a lot of other shows that we’re in talks with right now and that we can do,” WWE told her—and she’s ready. “Whatever you need, just put me in, coach.”

So while her SmackDown tenure may be done, Lilian Garcia is still very much part of the WWE family.
